Staithe are Bridie Jackson and Nick Pierce, a duo who perform original music centred around voice, classical guitar, viola, piano, and electronic samples. Bridie is best known as the singer and songwriter from Bridie Jackson and The Arbour, and Nick is a classical viola and synth player. Together they create 'dreamy acoustic' songs and instrumentals. They started playing together informally at home during the Lockdown of 2020, and in 2023 they officially 'formed a band' and recorded their first single 'Blanket of Love'. Since then, they have garnered a reputation at festivals and gigs for their intimate and emotive live shows and have been featured regularly in local music and arts press, played on BBC Introducing North East and Nova Radio and their first music video, You’ll Make it Home, was selected for The Sunderland Shorts Film Festival and the BIFA accredited Women X Film Festival 2024.

Staithe also compose and produce bespoke music for theatre and dance productions and sound installations across the North East. more information on this, see the Composing & Commissions tab.
